About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pastry Cook to join our culinary team at Chatham Bars Inn, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of menu items, including breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, and brownies, for our five restaurants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Control: Ensure the highest quality of products served to our guests.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and portion food products according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area, including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, saut burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Plate Presentation: Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Food Handling and Storage: Handle, store, and rotate all products properly.
  • Time Management: Complete required tasks within assigned time frames.
  • Food Waste Management: Track and report any food waste.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed and perform related duties such as helping to wash dishes, preparing recycling, and cleaning around the restaurant.
  • Communication: Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
Requirements
  • Culinary Experience: 2 years or more of experience in the culinary field.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with guests, co-workers, and management personnel.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to perform job functions with attention to details, speed, and accuracy.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to prioritize, organize, work, and follow through with assigned tasks, and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well under the pressure of meeting production schedules and timeliness of food displays, and handle multiple tasks at one time while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work well with others in a team environment and contribute to the growth and success of the team.
  • Organization: Ability to maintain a clean, neat, and organized work environment.
  • Culinary Skills: Demonstrates good knife skills, ability to season food properly, and ability to follow recipes and adjust quantities as needed.
