Industrial Automation Specialist

GABLETEK is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Specialist to join our team.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, engineering, and procuring mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the assembly area. They will also program the assembly equipment, support manufacturing needs, assist and repair engineering-related electrical breakdowns on the assembly equipment, and support production, maintenance, and process teams in troubleshooting of equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Design, engineer, and procure assembly equipment for future programs, maintaining and re-engineering current assembly equipment.
- Develop hardware designs and implement them in assembly equipment.
- Program assembly equipment, including motion controls, Servos, VFDs, pneumatic controls, and relay logic.
- Apply safety rules with immediate reaction in case of detected dangerous situations, ensuring that all safety devices of machines are operational before their restart after engineering intervention.
- Evaluate and ensure quality standards are upheld.
- Collaborate with Process/Quality Engineers and maintenance to develop new processes or process improvements.
- Design and implement ground-up robotics and controls hardware and logic design, electrical schematics, BOM, assembly, debug, and validation.
- Test, update, and industrialize existing equipment.
- Restore equipment from breakdowns, contribute to analysis of root cause, and suggest permanent corrective actions.
- Escalate deviations after machine observation in curative maintenance.
- Participate in Line QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control), participate in APU QRQC.
- Assist in machine run-off of new manufacturing equipment at supplier.
- Continuously improve SCADA and MES systems.
- Propose and create monthly/annual preventative maintenance documentation for automated equipment and control systems.
- Support development of Work Instructions, PFMEA, and all Process Documentation.
- Investigate and propose Advanced Process Control (APC), Model Predictive Control (MPC), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for future manufacturing delivery improvement.
- Manage individual projects within the environment.
- Maintain attention to budget.
- Educate colleagues on roadblocks preventing timely deliverables.
- Demonstrate ability to read and create mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Use control systems to support the maintenance team with motion controls, Servos, VFDs, pneumatic controls, and relay logic.
- Help create and install vision systems used in production.
Requirements:
- At least 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience with PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley and/or Siemens).
- 2+ years of experience with Robotics programming.
- Familiarity with reading and creating electrical prints and schematics.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment is required.
- Effective communication skills for both internal and external customers.
- Well-developed time management and technical problem-solving autonomy.
- Preferably experienced with APC, MPC, and DCS.
- Programming experience with motion controls, Servos, VFDs, pneumatic controls, and relay logic.
- Programming experience with vision systems (Keyence and/or Cognex) preferred.
- Project management/leadership experience.
