Position OverviewThe role of the Pharmacy Supervisor involves maintaining clinical practice skills and effectively functioning in a staffing capacity, which may include credentialing as a clinical pharmacist practitioner. Staffing responsibilities typically encompass 40-60% of the role, including weekend and holiday rotations.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safety and quality of pharmacy services delivered in the designated area, actively participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives and managing medication errors.
- Assist in establishing and designing goals for pharmacy teams, ensuring representation on institutional committees and supporting participation by team leaders and members.
- Supervise and mentor Team Leaders, providing opportunities for staff development and education.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Clinical Services to evaluate staff performance, conduct annual reviews, and manage disciplinary actions. Participate in budgetary processes and monitor drug expenditures within cost centers.
Engage in the development of new programs, services, and practices, creating metrics to assess their impact.
- Provide support to both internal and external customers.
- Contribute to the educational mission of Vidant Health through the training of students and residents.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and hospital policies and regulations, overseeing the review and revision of pharmacy policies and procedures.
Completion Requirements:
- Obtain Continuing Education credits as mandated by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
- Maintain an active North Carolina pharmacy license and provide proof of renewal annually.
- Hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and provide proof of renewal bi-annually.
- Successfully complete all annual department competency assessments.
- Fulfill the annual requirements set by The Joint Commission and undergo occupational health screening.
- Comply with all state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice.
A college degree, along with additional schooling, is required. Candidates should possess a BS, MS, or PharmD in Pharmacy.
A current North Carolina Pharmacy license or eligibility for licensure is essential, with the expectation to obtain licensure within two months of hire.
A minimum of two years of post-graduate experience or completion of a PGY2 Administrative residency is required, with managerial or supervisory experience preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is also necessary.
