The Senior Director of Public Affairs is responsible for implementing a robust strategy for government engagement, focusing on collaboration with elected officials and influential leaders at various levels.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Evaluating potential legislative and regulatory challenges that may affect the organization, assessing risks and opportunities, and formulating strategic responses.
  • Collaborating closely with market and hospital leadership to keep them informed about significant legislative and policy developments, utilizing internal expertise to compile relevant information regarding the operational implications of proposed legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Conducting presentations on policy and legislative matters for both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • In the designated regions, establishing and nurturing relationships with key elected officials, community influencers, and organizations at local, state, and federal levels to advance public policy and business objectives.
  • Facilitating political initiatives and grassroots advocacy efforts, representing the department at various meetings, and overseeing additional government relations programs as required.
  • Managing the review and execution of annual contracts in collaboration with the Vice President of Government Relations.
  • Engaging directly with state legislators, governors, and local officials on critical issues of importance.
  • Overseeing external consultants and lobbyists, ensuring effective management of contracts and compliance with organizational standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least seven years of pertinent experience in legislative, agency, trade association, corporate, or government relations, particularly within the specified regions.
  • Experience in healthcare-related issues is preferred.
  • A self-motivated individual capable of working autonomously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
