Job Title: Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure.

Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our computer systems, networks, and associated hardware and software. This includes designing and implementing infrastructure solutions, managing system updates and patches, and monitoring system performance to minimize downtime and disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions to meet business needs
  • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure reliability and security
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively
  • Administer and maintain servers, including Windows and Linux, and virtualization technologies
  • Implement and manage application delivery solutions to ensure reliable access to critical transportation applications
  • Develop and execute patch management and system hardening strategies to keep systems up-to-date and secure
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and remediate identified vulnerabilities promptly
  • Develop and execute backup and recovery plans to safeguard critical transportation data
  • Apply ITIL best practices for incident management, change management, and service delivery
  • Provide technical support to end users and conduct training sessions to educate staff on best practices
  • Implement and enforce security solutions, policies, and procedures to safeguard sensitive transportation data
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, hardware, and software applications
  • Experience in system setup, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and tools to secure systems and networks
  • Analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with other IT professionals and various departments within the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines effectively
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma required, a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred. 5-8 years' experience as a Systems Engineer, Systems Administrator, Cyber Security Analyst, or similar position required.
