Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at Devereux California. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with individuals with complex needs, providing support and guidance to help them develop essential life skills and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to individuals with emotional, behavioral, and cognitive differences, helping them to develop self-help skills and achieve independence.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, and meal preparation.
  • Plan and participate in community outings, including shopping trips, doctor's appointments, and day programs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other staff members, conducting observations and providing feedback.
  • Work with individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors, using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with emotional, behavioral, and cognitive differences, preferably in a therapeutic setting.
  • Driver's license required.

Shifts and Scheduling

We offer a variety of shifts to accommodate your schedule, including morning, afternoon, and evening shifts, as well as weekend shifts. Our Adult Day Program operates Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm.
