About the Role:

The Physical Plant at Marist College is seeking a skilled Housekeeper to join our team. As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our academic, administrative, and dormitory facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment to ensure efficient and effective cleaning processes.
  • Strip, wet mop, dust mop, and wax floors to maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety.
  • Wash walls, windows, glass partitions, and blackboards to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Maintain and clean washrooms to ensure a safe and hygienic space for students and staff.
  • Polish furniture and fixtures to maintain a high level of cleanliness and appearance.
  • Move furniture from building to building as needed to support events and functions.
  • Set up and rearrange rooms for special events and functions to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Remove all trash and other rubbish to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain recycling equipment to support our sustainability efforts.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Remove and install curtains and draperies to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Receive and store 55-gallon drums, paper supplies, and other housekeeping supplies to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Responsible for assuring that areas found locked on arrival are locked on departure to maintain a secure environment.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping and preservation of housekeeping equipment to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Responsible for reporting equipment damaged or lost to ensure prompt repair or replacement.

Requirements:

  • Six months of professional custodial experience.
  • Must pass a security and background investigation.
  • Institutional housekeeping experience and the ability to clean with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cleaning experience in hospitals, nursing homes, residential housing, hotels, large facility/multi-use buildings, office/conference space, and classroom/lecture space.
  • Experience with sustainable practices preferred.
