Patient Care Services
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides high-quality patient care services, addressing the psychosocial, physical, and general needs of patients.
LPNs adhere to federal, state, and local regulatory compliance, ensuring patient care that reflects initiative, responsibility, and professionalism in clinical practice departments.
LPN practice requires assignment or delegation by and performance under the supervision, orders, or directions of a registered nurse (RN), physician, or other person authorized by State law to provide the supervision.
LPNs implement health care plans developed by the RN or physician as authorized by State law to prescribe such a plan.
Key areas of practice and care delivery are provided to achieve and maintain top decile results and outcomes for patient experience, quality, and patient safety.
The LPN follows and adheres to ARHS policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior.
LPNs assist coworkers, clients, families, and visitors, ensuring that assistance is in-line with their scope of practice, license, or certification.
LPNs participate in structured classes and training sessions, complemented by supervised job shadowing/precepting under the guidance of a licensed registered nurse.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- Previous Health Care Experience in an acute or clinic setting is preferred
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician
- Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the continuum of nursing care provided in the patient care department
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians
Work Environment
LPNs are regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
LPNs are frequently exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment; odorous chemicals and specimens
LPNs may be subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
