The ideal candidate will be part of a highly trained security team dedicated to ensuring the safety of personnel and the integrity of the Bulk Electric System (BES) across the Southeast. The role demands a high level of mental and physical preparedness to effectively mitigate threats to both the BES and the personnel associated with Southern Company and its affiliates.
Armed security specialists are tasked with maintaining strict access control and implementing elevated security protocols to protect BES assets and personnel. This includes responsibilities within security operations centers, generation facilities, and other locations related to NERC CIP Physical Security Perimeters (PSPs). The position entails monitoring intrusion alarms, video surveillance, and access control systems, while responding to PSP events as part of a dedicated 24/7 team trained in NERC CIP Standards and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and respond to various video surveillance, access control, and intrusion alarms at NERC CIP PSPs.
- Assess response requirements and prioritize incidents, documenting actions in the appropriate format.
- Conduct preliminary investigations of security breaches and prepare detailed incident reports.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Administer and enforce security policies and maintain accurate security records.
- Provide armed security services for corporate facilities and manage access control effectively.
Qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelor's/Associates degree or equivalent experience in security or law enforcement.
- Certification reflecting knowledge of industry standards and practices.
- Availability for shift work, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in law enforcement, military, or industrial security.
- Successful completion of psychological assessments, drug tests, and firearms qualifications.
Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with Software House CCURE and Avigilon Software is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and various computer systems.
- Ability to make informed decisions with minimal supervision.
- Capability to manage stressful situations and work collaboratively within a team.
