Job Summary

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities Operations Branch, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of all building systems, including electrical, mechanical, and safety devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate equipment and controls to ensure optimal performance
  • Make decisions that impact the facility training schedule and overall operations
  • Assist in the preparation and acceptance inspection of construction contracts
  • Perform standard computations relating to load requirements and use specialized measuring instruments
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have experience in the installation, maintenance, and operation of all building systems, including digital-controlled environmental systems. You should also possess technical expertise gained through experience in a facility composed of state-of-the-art equipment.

Work Environment

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will work in a fast-paced environment with numerous demands each day. You may be required to work shift work, weekends, and be called back for emergencies. You will also be exposed to the possibility of electrical shock, cuts, bruises, and broken bones.

Physical Demands

The job requires continual handling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing about 50 pounds. You will also be required to work on ladders and scaffolds, which may involve working overhead or in stretched, cramped, or awkward positions.
