Job Summary
The Judicial Council of California is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage the governance of the Judicial Branch Statistical Information System (JBSIS). As a Supervising Data Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to trial courts on data reporting, data mapping, data definitions, and use of the JBSIS interface.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage JBSIS through all stages of the data lifecycle, including data collection standards, data quality, data sharing, and data retention.
- Directly provide and guide a team in providing technical assistance to trial courts on data-related matters.
- Lead responsibility for publishing the Court Statistics Report, including determining procedures, staffing, and timeframe for compiling, validating, and publishing the report annually.
- Data and research consulting to enhance data quality, data collection, and efficiency/effectiveness of data collected.
- Modernize data delivery in partnership with JCIT and Statewide Data Warehouse project.
Working Conditions
The SIU team is based in San Francisco, and the successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council's San Francisco office and reside in the surrounding area. The Judicial Council is an on-premises workplace, but this position is eligible to work remotely three days per week.
Special Requirements

- Monitoring and researching industry trends, solutions, and best practices.
- Authoring and editing complex reports and documents.
- Exercising confidentiality.
- Utilizing a computer, relevant software applications, and/or other equipment as assigned.
- Effectively communicating.
- Maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and the public.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of statistical software such as R and Stata.
- Knowledge of database management software, such as SQL and others.
- Principles of research, analysis, data management.
- Data visualization skills and software, such as Power BI, Tableau.
- Knowledge of court case processing practices, court operations, and state government.
