Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Join SpaceX as a Mechanical Design Engineer and contribute to the development of cutting-edge spacecraft and launch vehicle components. As a member of our Propulsion Components team, you will design, develop, and characterize components for simplicity, manufacturability, and reliability in extreme environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop state-of-the-art, manufacturable flow control devices and mechanisms across Starship and Super Heavy stage systems.
  • Partner with manufacturing, production, testing, and supply chain to achieve SpaceX's highest-yet component build rate.
  • Generate and maintain detailed drawings, component specifications, analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Spearhead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.
  • Set the standard for rigorous component design and qualification testing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of mechanical design/hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for problem-solving, and desire to optimize modern rocket production and launch processes.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree or 1+ years of professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
  • Strong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary teams.
Additional Requirements:
  • Travel to vendors and other SpaceX sites as needed.
  • Able to work flexible hours and occasional weekend support as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
