Role SummaryThe primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that our products adhere to established Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) standards. Key tasks include conducting safety and quality assessments, performing daily sampling, preparing samples, executing various analytical tests, documenting results, and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities- Maintain awareness of critical components of our Safe Quality Foods (SQF) certification, including but not limited to:

- Utilize and maintain standard laboratory instruments according to established Work Instructions (WIs).
- Handle and maintain laboratory equipment such as pH meters, qPCR machines, thermocyclers, density meters, centrifuges, pipettors, microscopes, and other essential tools.
- Conduct regular checks and calibrations of lab instruments to ensure precision in results.
- Keep a tidy and organized workspace.
- Manage glassware through proper handling, cleaning, and sanitization.
- Participate in daily tasting panels.
- Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and implement necessary adjustments.
- Inspect, test, and sample materials or products for quality assurance.
- Discuss inspection outcomes with responsible parties and suggest corrective measures.
- Analyze work-in-progress and finished product samples, reporting any deviations from specifications.
- Collect and prepare samples from various production stages according to the testing schedule.
- Conduct shelf-life and brite tank testing on finished products.
- Assist in managing lab sample inventory and the disposition of samples.
- Utilize digital tools for data recording and analysis.
- Engage in departmental and cross-departmental meetings.
- Support other departments during non-peak times.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) while in the production area and promote adherence among team members.
- Understand SQF policies related to pest control, visitor management, allergen handling, and sanitation.
- Exhibit commitment to SQF principles and contribute to the organization's food safety and quality objectives.
- Report any food quality and safety issues to the Quality Assurance Manager for appropriate corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Meticulous attention to detail, quality, cleanliness, and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Independent decision-making capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Awareness of safety protocols and hazards.

- High school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, food science, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience is preferred.
- Experience in food or beverage production is advantageous.
- Standard breaks and work hours apply.
- Safe handling of chemicals with appropriate safety measures.
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as bending, squatting, and lifting up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments for extended periods.
