Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our Applied Research Laboratories, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced diver systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of alternatives to support military applications and acquisitions
  • Plan, execute, and report on the testing and evaluation of systems
  • Support the development, documentation, and management of requirements and specifications for military diving systems
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and coordinate complex systems
  • Support training activities for diver systems
  • Perform other related functions as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in a technical work environment or post-bachelor's degree military experience
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering across the life cycle, including requirements management, systems architecture, verification, and validation
  • Significant military or technical diving knowledge and understanding of Navy diving protocols and applications
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated writing and presentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic electrical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience in Naval Special Warfare or similar specialized Navy diving experience
  • Experience with diving-related topics, such as diver propulsion devices, submarine lock-out procedures, and underwater communications
  • Experience in systems engineering, project management, and technical leadership
  • Understanding of software engineering processes and standards
  • Experience with top-down design of systems and circuit board design
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as C, C++, and Java
