Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Fort Bend ISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational services to students with disabilities, promoting their academic and functional achievement, and facilitating their transition to adult life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with disabilities, focusing on their unique needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Conduct Person-Centered Planning Assessments to identify students' strengths, challenges, and interests.
  • Coordinate community-based instruction and training activities to promote students' independence and self-advocacy.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Stay up-to-date with state and federal laws and regulations related to special education.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a high school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
