POSITION SUMMARY:

The Radiology Technologist is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality care, ensuring patient safety, and upholding the core values of Health First: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. This role involves actively contributing to a collaborative and efficient work environment, producing high-quality diagnostic images, and adhering to all relevant protocols in a professional and timely manner. Additionally, the technologist will mentor colleagues and students, fostering their technical growth within a team-oriented setting.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain a secure environment for patients, colleagues, and oneself.
  • Verify patient identity through two forms of identification to ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct individual.
  • Conduct a 'time out' process before initiating any invasive procedures.
  • Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to ensure radiation safety.
  • Be knowledgeable about the location and use of emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Understand the Health First Emergency Kardex and responsibilities associated with emergency codes.
  • Prepare for hurricane-related duties as part of the Health First team.
  • Follow Infection Control policies and procedures, practicing aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Document and communicate relevant information effectively and accurately.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate department and management.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, both written and electronic, including patient history and procedural consent.
  • Review exam orders thoroughly before performing any examinations.
  • Gather pertinent patient history from various sources, including requisitions and medical charts.
  • Execute procedure protocols, ensuring images meet quality standards while complying with all healthcare regulations.
  • Position patients correctly and utilize appropriate imaging techniques.
  • Ensure that exam rooms are clean, organized, stocked, and disinfected, and that equipment is ready for the next patient.
  • Follow proper image retrieval and filing processes.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute suggestions for departmental enhancements.
  • Accept additional responsibilities to support departmental objectives.
  • Attend required staff meetings and in-services, acknowledging and signing off on meeting minutes.
  • Identify, prepare, and administer medications within the technologist's scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

  • Provide appropriate education to patients before and after procedures.

  • Assist in other areas of the department as needed.
  • Utilize the Kronos time clock system correctly, adhering to work schedules and break policies.
  • Adapt to changes in workflow and patient volume as necessary.
