Job Summary:

This position is responsible for patient scheduling, registration, financial collections, and daily clerical support for the delivery of primary care to patients and families of Metro Community Health Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with patients and their families.
  • Create new patient accounts by collecting registration data and creating new patient charts within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Maintain accuracy of patient insurance information, including scanning insurance cards and updating income verification forms.
  • Collect co-pays, payments, and balances as required by office policies.
  • Enter patient payments into the computer system and maintain accurate records.
  • Operate office equipment, such as fax machines and copiers, as directed.
  • Check patients in and out for scheduled appointments and answer incoming calls from patients.
  • Triage calls within the department and obtain and enter new patient demographics.
  • Verify patient insurance information using online tools or contacting insurance companies.
  • Maintain compliance with all policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with high call volumes and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Credentials:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA is required.
  • Successful completion of a medical receptionist or related program or 1 year of medical office experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls, and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
