Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will engage in a diverse range of technical tasks and business development activities within our water resources practice, particularly focusing on projects in the region. With guidance from senior staff, your responsibilities will include:
  • Facilitating interactions with clients and regulatory agencies, including presenting technical data to stakeholders;
  • Driving business development efforts for water resource opportunities, mentoring junior staff, and fostering professional growth;
  • Conducting engineering and management studies related to water resources, including water banking and rights assessments;
  • Analyzing hydrological, groundwater, and water quality data to inform supply management strategies;
  • Interpreting water rights documentation in accordance with state regulations and policies;
  • Reviewing water usage data, land use, and agricultural records;
  • Performing field investigations, including water use assessments and streamflow monitoring;
  • Executing quantitative analyses using spreadsheets;
  • Managing water right permitting processes, including applications and compliance;
  • Enhancing our visibility in the industry through publications and participation in conferences.
  • Training: Required training in health and safety, boating, defensive driving, first aid, and CPR will be provided by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities, including seminars and mentoring programs, to help our professionals advance their technical and business acumen.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 30% of the role may involve field activities.
  • Travel: Overnight travel may be required up to 20%.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, natural resources, environmental management, or a related field with a focus on water resources. (required)
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Professional licensure (e.g., P.E., P.G.) is preferred.
Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in water resource engineering or management, or a combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of local water laws and rights, including the Water Banking Act.
  • Proven track record in client management and technical leadership is preferred.
  • Experience with water resources projects, including groundwater recharge and water rights management.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS) is preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in grant writing is preferred.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license and a clean driving record are required for business travel.
