Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality radiographs that aid physicians in diagnosing diseases, pathologies, and traumas. Under indirect supervision, you will operate radiographic equipment to capture images of the human body, utilizing your technical expertise to ensure diagnostic quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate various x-ray control consoles, portable units, tube assemblies, lock systems, collimators, filters, and tables to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures and examinations.
  • Ensure correct patient identification and left or right marker appears on all films.
  • Center the area of interest to film and tube.
  • Utilize appropriate use of phototiming, milliamperes, kilovoltage, seconds, distance, collimation, intensifying screens, film speed, and grids to produce diagnostic quality radiographs.
  • Assess patients' histories and overall conditions, making necessary modifications in technique and/or positioning to compensate for pathology or other considerations.
  • Observe all required radiation safety/protection regulations and standards to minimize dose and avoid/minimize repeat films.
  • Critique radiographs for diagnostic quality and other properties, consulting with supervisors and/or radiologists as needed.
  • Complete requisitions with all required and pertinent information.
  • Load and unload radiographic film.
  • Comply with all required continuing education standards.
Requirements:
  • Certification as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services.
  • Registration as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (radiography) issued by the ARRT.
  • Graduation from an accredited educational program in diagnostic Radiologic Technology approved by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology.
  • Valid BLS card.
  • Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California may be required as specified by department.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and to utilize the principles, theories, practices, and techniques of radiologic technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care medical center or free-standing diagnostic imaging center.
Notes:
  • Required to travel to medical offices within the San Bernardino County Service Area for trainings and orientation.
  • Required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.
  • Will be scheduled and required to cover After Hours needs.
  • This is an On-Call position, days and hours may vary.
