Seeking Experienced Histologist for ASCP Certified Position

Palm Careers LLC is seeking a skilled Histologist to join their team at a well-recognized New Mexico Hospital. The ideal candidate will have strong ASCP certification and experience in processing and preparing patient result reports on specimens submitted to the Pathology section of the Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform high complexity testing procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently.
  • Conduct instrument calibrations and prepare necessary reagents and stains for tissue/specimen processing.
  • Maintain all equipment and instruments in the Pathology section.
  • Follow specific written procedures for specimen handling and processing, testing analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results and Proficiency Survey Testing.
  • Perform IHC, Staining, Cutting, Grossing, Frozen, Embedding tasks.
  • Recognize and report potential or actual patient safety hazards and participate in laboratory process improvement activities.
  • Actively participate in preparations for CAP, JCAHO, and/or CLIA inspections.
Requirements:
  • NAACLS accredited Histologic Technician program or AS Degree or BS Degree from an accredited applied science program and completion of clinical rotations.
  • ACSP certification as a Histologist (HT/ HLT).
  • American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology or an appropriately certified medical scientist.
  • Current American Heart HeartSaver or Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
