Job Description:

The Literacy Education Specialist - Reading Coach is a key role in the Educational Solutions Company, responsible for coordinating the implementation of reading programs across the system.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist P-3 teachers in improving reading and English Language Arts instruction, focusing on overall student achievement.
  • Provide instructional strategies and tools to aid the instructional process, ensuring alignment with Ohio State Standards.
  • Observe teachers, provide feedback, and demonstrate lessons to promote best practices.
  • Review lesson plans to ensure they are developmentally appropriate, use best practices, and differentiate based on student needs.
  • Monitor teachers' alignment and pacing to curriculum guides, review and disaggregate data to determine student needs.
  • Coach, model, and build the knowledge and skills of ELA teachers, assisting with program evaluation and improvement.
  • Ensure teachers and principals are familiar with CCSS changes regarding reading, design curriculum, new course offerings, and guidelines for student placement.
  • Serve as an OTES representative as requested by principals, assist with textbook and material acquisition, and keep parents, administrators, and community informed about reading programs.
  • Schedule regular meetings for elementary reading contact teachers and middle school language arts teacher leaders, participate in staff meetings, and develop a comprehensive five-year plan for the district in reading.
  • Collaborate with other curriculum specialists to provide an integrated program, support training in specific reading programs through coaching, modeling, and mentoring, and meet regularly with Curriculum Facilitators and principals to discuss reading program progress and needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in reading or English Language Arts with extensive coursework in education, and 5-7 years of teaching experience with program coordination experience.
  • Must be certified to teach in the State of Ohio.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year.
