Job Summary

The Computed Tomography Technologist plays a vital role in the diagnosis of disease and injury by performing high-quality CT procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients. Under the general supervision of a Radiologist, this individual must be able to perform tasks autonomously without routine oversight, while maintaining a calm and helpful attitude even in stressful situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner, adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed, assessing their ability to tolerate the exam.
  • Prepare patients and areas for procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and maintaining equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques.
  • Maintain medical imaging records in appropriate systems and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • ARRT-CT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography (CT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT) licensure by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
