Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Recreation Aide II to join our team at the City of Gainesville's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. As a Recreation Aide II, you will assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of recreational programs and activities within an assigned City recreational facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of recreational activities, including special events, sports leagues, instructional programs, and other related activities.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Recreation Aide I staff.
  • Assist in the development of new programs and classes.
  • Answer public inquiries about programs and services.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and custodial tasks at parks facilities and buildings.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in recreational programming, instruction, or related work.
  • American Red Cross certification in First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within six (6) months of appointment.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required within thirty (30) days of appointment.
Working Conditions

Work requires performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions. Must be able to work a varying schedule outside normal business hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
