Job Summary

As a Software Engineering Manager at NetApp, you'll have the opportunity to play a key role in transforming how data is changing the world. Our ONTAP storage operating system is the #1 solution in the industry, managing hundreds of exabytes of customer data. We have over 30,000 customers worldwide who rely on us to be their data authority.

This is a unique chance to work on a high-performance engineering team responsible for building the fundamental software that manages the ONTAP product. You'll be part of a team that delivers industry-changing products in a rapidly growing sector of the tech industry.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for leading a team of high-performing software development and test engineers using a DevOps model. You'll contribute expertise to software architecture and design, facilitate product design and implementation, and provide coaching and career development for your team members.

You'll work closely with product management and customers to build the best product, ensuring timely and high-quality releases of modules in ONTAP. Your results will be measured by costs, methods, and staffing, and you'll be responsible for taking ownership of your team's outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software development and test engineers using a DevOps model
  • Contribute expertise to software architecture and design of distributed system features
  • Facilitate product design, implementation, and support
  • Provide coaching and career development for team members
  • Ensure timely and high-quality releases of modules in ONTAP
  • Work closely with product management and customers to build the best product
  • Take ownership of team outcomes, including costs, methods, and staffing
Requirements
  • Experience in managing software development projects with C/C++ in LINUX/UNIX environment
  • Experience in hands-on systems design and systems software development
  • Experience with systems engineering domain requiring concepts such as computer architecture, operating systems, file systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and apply new technologies
  • Experience with storage technologies is a plus
Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required, with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, including at least 2 years of experience as a people manager.
