Responsibilities:

Position Summary:


The Chief Nursing Officer collaborates with the Chief Nursing Executive/Senior Vice President to formulate strategic, operational, and financial plans that align with UCI Health's mission.

The incumbent provides nursing leadership for the Irvine Medical Center and offers essential support and insights during the activation of the facility.

This role involves assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practices at the Irvine Medical Center.

Engaging closely with Senior Leadership across the health system, the Chief Nursing Officer ensures the Medical Center operates efficiently and fulfills UCI Health's mission.

As the primary liaison for all nursing-related matters at the Irvine Medical Center, this position collaborates with health system leaders to align clinical operations with organizational objectives and standards.

Qualifications:

Familiarity with Joint Commission and other relevant regulatory standards

Strong strategic planning, financial acumen, and analytical skills to effectively lead designated areas

Registered Nurse licensure

Possession of the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities for successful job performance

Demonstrated customer service skills suitable for the role

A minimum of 5 years in an executive leadership position (Director or higher) within nursing

At least 10 years of progressive management experience

Marketing expertise to effectively promote assigned programs and services

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English

Proven negotiation skills and the ability to influence stakeholders both internally and externally

Evidence of strong critical thinking abilities and a creative, strategic mindset

Demonstrated capability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Ability to represent the UC Irvine Enterprise effectively to the external community

Capability to navigate departmental management lines to organize, guide, and direct the development, delivery, and marketing of assigned programs and services

Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace relative to workload

Capacity to establish and sustain effective working relationships throughout the Health System

Ability to design and implement programs that enhance organizational performance


Adherence to all nursing practice and medical center policies and procedures regarding infection control, safety, and clinical practice.

Compliance with mandates set forth by The Joint Commission/Title 22, CLIA, etc.

Preferred

Qualifications:

MBA or Master's degree in Healthcare Management or a related field

MBA or Master's degree in a comparable discipline

Leadership experience within an academic medical center environment

Familiarity with University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures, and documentation
