Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented CDL Permit Trainee to join our team at US Foods, Inc. As a CDL Permit Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting designated drivers in route completion, learning all aspects of the job, and successfully enrolling in CDL school and obtaining a CDL permit license within the first 45 days of the training program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend all required company meetings and adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
  • Assist designated US Foods drivers in route completion, learning all aspects of the job.
  • Maintain satisfactory feedback from instructors and driver/coaches during the classroom, yard skills, and on-the-road driving portion of the training program.
  • Successfully enroll in CDL school and obtain a CDL permit license within the first 45 days of the training program.
  • Successfully obtain a CDL Class A license within the 90 days of the training program.
  • Achieve defined performance expectations during the initial 90-day probationary period of the program.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), and tools used to perform the job.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for the position.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must successfully complete the DOT written examination for drivers and pass a controlled substance abuse screening test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of experience operating heavy motor vehicle equipment and/or one year of experience as a warehouse selector in a foodservice or comparable product environment.
Work Environment

The CDL Permit Trainee will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent stops and inclement weather conditions. The ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including applying tire chains if needed, is required.
