Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join our multidisciplinary team in Pediatric Genetics at the University of Rochester. As an APP in this position, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, diagnosing, and providing comprehensive care to individuals and families with metabolic genetic disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of adult and pediatric patients' medical histories and genetic risk factors.
  • Perform physical examinations and order appropriate tests.
  • Manage patients with inborn errors of metabolism, including those who may need enzyme replacement therapy.
  • Monitor patients' ongoing metabolic health and provide necessary interventions and referrals.
  • Routine communication with The New York State Newborn Screening and external providers.
Indirect Patient Care Responsibilities
  • Preclinical case reviews, prescription management, patient and parent phone calls, interacting with various state and home care agencies, and participating in weekly rounds and meetings for the metabolic service as well as Division meetings for Clinical Genetics.
  • Bedside and didactic education of medical students, residents, observers, and MS Genetic Counselling students.
Requirements
  • Current certification through NYS as an FNP/PA.
  • Nurse Practitioner: Require a Masters degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
  • Physician Assistant: Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
