Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department will independently plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care, policy, and procedure. This role requires a high level of autonomy and decision-making, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement plans of care that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Coordinate care delivery and ensure seamless transitions between departments.
- Employ patient teaching to promote health and safety, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Practice ethically and maintain current knowledge and competence in nursing practice.
- Contribute to quality nursing practice and shared decision-making by supporting council decisions and participating in quality improvement activities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the inter-professional team.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and the inter-professional team to provide comprehensive care.
- Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Candidates with Emergency Department experience are preferred, but new graduates may be considered for our Emergency Department fellowship program. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a RN in acute care is required, with at least one year of Emergency or pediatric ICU acute experience preferred.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is also required.
Intermediate computer knowledge is required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
