Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. This role requires 40 hours per week, including some evening shifts and rotational Saturday shifts. The compensation for this position ranges from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience. Key Responsibilities
As a Certified Medical Assistant at Vanguard Medical Group, you will be an essential part of our patient-centered care team. Your responsibilities will include:
  1. Patient Preparation: Ensure examination rooms are well-prepared with instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  2. Assisting Providers: Support healthcare providers in patient care, from preparing laboratory specimens to administering medications, and performing basic laboratory tests on-site.
  3. Educating Patients: Provide patients with medication and diet information, answering their questions to ensure they understand their healthcare plans.
  4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate medical records by documenting patient examinations, treatments, and test results.
  5. Billing and Referrals: Handle billing information, insurance forms, and referrals to specialists, ensuring a smooth process for patients.
  6. Supply Management: Keep supplies well-stocked by monitoring inventory, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  7. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain medical equipment in good condition, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate repairs when needed.
  8. Patient Confidentiality: Safeguard patient care information, maintaining their confidence and protecting operations.
  9. Continual Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and engaging in professional organizations.
  10. Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and providers in a professional manner.
  11. Rooming Patients: Demonstrate competency in rooming patients, measuring vital signs, obtaining medical history, and recording information in the EMR system.
  12. Procedure Assistance: Assist providers in various medical procedures, from minor surgery to specialized exams.
  13. Problem Solving: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in a clinical setting.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • An accredited Medical Assistant Program degree
  • Current/active CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification or ability to obtain within 90 days from the date of hire
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of Athena or an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and telephone skills
