- Cash Handling: Promptly scan products or weigh produce being purchased, operate the cash register accurately and efficiently, and provide the correct change when appropriate.
- Store Maintenance: Maintain the cash drawer with sufficient currency and coins, count out the cash drawer at the beginning and end of a shift, and conduct price checks when necessary.
- Merchandise Handling: Place items in bags for customers, assist with loading into shopping carts when necessary, and return discarded items back to shelves when necessary.
- Store Appearance: Keep the conveyor belt, scanner, scale, and counter clean at all times, and assist with keeping the front of the store clean, organized, and free from safety hazards.
- Additional Duties: Serve as a bagger or facing clerk when necessary, add or change paper in registers, printers, and other office equipment, and report any equipment malfunctions to the manager on duty.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Mathematical Skills: Good mathematical skills, with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, use fingers and hands to type, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and use sense of smell.
The individual performs duties in a grocery store environment, maintaining frequent contact with supervisors, employees, and customers. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
