Job Summary

The Addictions Counselor Assistant provides support to the multidisciplinary treatment team at the Addiction Treatment Center. This role involves assisting with individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and clinical activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of addiction treatment principles and be able to work effectively with clients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with individual and group counseling sessions, including developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to clients as needed.
  • Assist with coordination of care, including referrals for aftercare and follow-up appointments.
  • Complete required documentation, including client records and facility reports.
  • Conduct routine rounds and document observations.
  • May provide training or guidance to newer staff members.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in a related field, with one year of experience in a direct treatment capacity.
  • Associate's degree in a human services field or current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)-Trainee or CASAC-Provisional in New York State.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information

OASAS Addiction Treatment Centers (ATCs) are Tobacco Free Facilities. Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) and investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC). Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
