Key Responsibilities
  • Program Support: Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of program activities, ensuring alignment with curriculum and state standards.
  • Classroom Support: Provide support to classroom staff, children, and volunteers, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity.
  • Assessment and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of child and classroom assessments, screenings, and progress, communicating effectively with state licensing specialists.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with site staff to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Professional Development: Participate in required trainings, including ODJFS and Step Up to Quality programs, to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Community Engagement: Contribute to branch fundraising efforts, promoting the Y's mission and values.
Requirements
  • Qualify as an Assistant Teacher under the Step Up to Quality program and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
  • Obtain certifications in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Prevention within 90 days of hire.
  • Provide a copy of high school diploma, completed medical form, and undergo a BCI/FBI background check prior to first day of work.
  • Commit to the YMCA's mission, values, and philanthropic efforts.
  • Have reliable transportation.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The Before & After School Assistant Teacher (RFT) will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and move around the work area. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
