Job Summary

The Department of Rehabilitation is seeking a highly skilled Support Services Assistant - Interpreter to provide interpreting services for Rehabilitation Counselors for the Deaf and other deaf or hard of hearing staff members. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of American Sign Language, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpreting services for professional meetings, telephone calls, one-on-one meetings with RCDs, and other departmental employees
  • Coordinate individual weekly schedules and maintain resource/training materials for individual development within the classification
  • Report monthly activity to the AGPA and maintain accurate records
  • Develop and maintain relationships with deaf and hard of hearing staff members to ensure effective communication and support

Requirements

  • Fluency in American Sign Language
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of deaf and hard of hearing culture and community

Working Conditions

The Support Services Assistant - Interpreter will work on a permanent intermittent basis, with an anticipated time worked per month of no more than 30 hours. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on providing excellent customer service.
