Position Overview

As a Custodial Services Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in various City facilities. This role requires a commitment to ensuring that all assigned areas are kept in pristine condition, reflecting the City’s standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, your duties will include but are not limited to:
  1. Conducting inspections of work areas to ensure tasks are completed effectively.
  2. Performing a range of custodial tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing offices, hallways, restrooms, and communal areas.
  3. Maintaining floors through sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing, as well as managing waste disposal.
  4. Dusting and cleaning furniture, fixtures, and equipment to maintain a professional appearance.
  5. Carrying out security checks of facilities, including locking and unlocking doors and monitoring for unauthorized access.
  6. Operating custodial equipment safely and effectively, ensuring proper maintenance and care.
  7. Replenishing supplies and reporting any maintenance needs for buildings and equipment.
  8. Assisting in the training of new custodial staff as required.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
Knowledge of:
- Operations and services of custodial programs.
- Safe handling of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Effective cleaning methods and practices.

Ability to:
- Follow instructions and perform tasks independently.
- Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Communicate clearly in both oral and written forms.

Physical Requirements

The role requires physical stamina to perform various cleaning tasks, including lifting objects up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and using cleaning equipment.
