Job Description

The Logistics Coordinator role at Forward Air involves the planning, scheduling, and dispatching of customer freight. This position owns the relationship with valued Independent Contractors and is instrumental in coordinating the timely delivery of goods. Key responsibilities include providing exceptional support to drivers, responding to questions and troubleshooting concerns, and proactively monitoring freight movement to ensure customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Multitasking and prioritizing situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicating with drivers to prioritize loads, define routes, and set schedules
  • Monitoring containers to prevent demurrage and storage fees
  • Providing detailed instructions to various personnel via phone
  • Accepting and scheduling loads and providing excellent customer service
  • Making routing decisions that satisfy customer expectations and company financial decisions
  • Ensuring shipping data is entered into the system timely and accurately

Qualifications:

  • Intermodal transportation experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working with NJ/NY Ports and knowledge of their appointment systems required
  • Self-motivated problem-solver with a desire to meet customer needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire for a long-term career with an industry-leading company
  • Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactively establishing and maintaining effective working team relationships with all support departments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience
