Occupational Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at a K-12 school. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to provide comprehensive support and therapy, enabling students to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess students' abilities and challenges in the areas of fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and functional tasks in the school environment.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans to improve students' ability to perform school-related tasks and participate in daily classroom activities.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on skills such as handwriting, use of tools, self-regulation, and adaptive behaviors.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to integrate therapy goals into students' educational plans (IEPs).
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Educate and support parents and teachers on strategies to support students' development and participation in school activities.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of student evaluations, treatment plans, and progress reports.
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development, learning disorders, and sensory processing issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Work Environment:
  • This position is primarily based in a K-12 school environment, requiring interaction with students, teachers, and staff in classrooms and other school facilities.
