About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer II to join our Reservations team at Expedia Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining cloud-based microservices and event-driven systems that power the tools our Supply Partners use to interact with their reservations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with team members to co-develop and solve complex problems.
  • Proactively reach out to meet peers across environments to collaborate and solve problems.
  • Take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area.
  • Seek knowledge from subject matter experts when needed.
  • Develop and test standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
  • Apply software design principles, data structures, and design patterns to write clean, maintainable, and optimized code.
  • Help coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues.
  • Think broadly and understand how, why, and when policies and processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Technical field or equivalent related professional experience.
  • Developing software in a team environment of at least 5 engineers (agile, version control, etc.).
  • Building and maintaining a software project/product in production environments in public/hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency with API Design and Development, web services, and object-oriented design.
  • Experience using Java or Kotlin preferred.
  • Proficient with algorithms and data structures, design patterns, multi-threading, concurrency, caching, and distributed systems.
  • Experienced with cloud-computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of how projects fit together within your team.
  • Able to understand moderately complex systems.
  • Ability to test and monitor your own code.
  • Understanding of testing and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to debug applications.
  • Understanding of how teams' goals fit a business need.
