At the Helen Ross McNabb Center, we are dedicated to providing quality care and support to individuals affected by domestic violence. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Violence Advocate to join our team in Knox County, Tennessee.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $36,220 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek and assuming a starting hourly rate of $17.24, as mentioned in the job description.

About the Job

The Domestic Violence Advocate will work directly with men and women at the FCC Domestic Violence Shelter, providing crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to ensure the ongoing safety of clients. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • The Domestic Violence Advocate will serve as the first responder to crisis situations within the shelter, as well as provide crisis intervention for hotline callers.
  • This role involves working closely with housing developments, KCDC/Section 8, DHS, CAC, mental health providers, DV shelters across the state, and other service providers to coordinate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency services as needed.
  • Develop a treatment plan with all clients on caseload.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the shelter.
  • Represent the Helen Ross McNabb Center and FCC in a professional manner when interacting with community partners.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social services, counseling, child and family studies, or a related field with coursework or experience in areas such as child development, cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and cycles of domestic violence and treatment interventions for trauma is highly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with adults and/or families is preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge/front-line service delivery in domestic violence or other victim services is preferred.
