Domestic Violence Advocate - Crisis Intervention Specialist
">The Helen Ross McNabb Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Domestic Violence Advocate to join their team in Knox County, Tennessee. As a crisis intervention specialist, you will be responsible for providing support and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence.
This role involves working directly with men and women at the FCC Domestic Violence Shelter, responding to crisis situations, and providing crisis intervention for hotline callers. You will serve as a support system for clients through referrals, housing advocacy, safety planning, and healthy coping skills.
In this position, you will work on a treatment team with other FCC staff to discuss care coordination and needed services. Through goal planning and activities, you will ensure the ongoing safety of clients in shelter. You will also coordinate and work closely with housing developments, KCDC/Section 8, DHS, CAC, mental health providers, DV shelters across the state, and other service providers.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining file records and client information in a confidential manner, upholding Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) confidentiality guidelines, and maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of the shelter. You will participate in supervision with the Shelter Team Leader and complete all documentation in a timely manner, adhering to center policy and procedures.
This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure. You must be able to present professionally and work within a team to plan, implement, and evaluate trauma-informed care.
We offer a competitive salary of $17.24/hour, based on relevant experience and education. A Bachelor's degree in social services, counseling, child and family studies, or a related field is required, with coursework or experience in areas such as child development, cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention preferred.
This position requires the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including survivors of domestic violence and those exposed to domestic violence. You must have good time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and possess basic computer literacy skills.
