Your Role and Impact:
As a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer, you will:
  • Utilize extensive knowledge and practical expertise in various electrical systems, focusing on Electrical Generation/Protection and Medium Voltage Distribution equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate within a team environment where safety is paramount.

Contribute to the design team for electrical systems, ensuring effective commissioning, operations, and troubleshooting across all electrical system levels.

Provide technical leadership on facility-based projects, working closely with both GE Vernova and vendor teams.

Engage with Mechanical and Process engineers to integrate process system designs into electrical designs.

Coordinate with electrical equipment suppliers for Requests for Quotes (RFQs), vendor drawing evaluations, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) planning.

Draft detailed electrical technical specifications for procurement of electrical equipment, including power transformers, switchgear, and electrical panels.

Develop safety procedures for working on electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Communicate findings effectively to internal and external stakeholders through comprehensive reports and presentations that outline analyses, solutions, and value propositions.

Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year Electrical Technology Degree with at least 10 years of experience.

Proven experience in electrical construction, including inspections during installation and addressing Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure project design integrity and timelines.

Hands-on experience with electrical testing on 15kV transformers, utility-sized generators (50MW+), switchgear, motor control centers (MCC), power panels, variable frequency drives (VFDs), protection relays, and a comprehensive understanding of electrical protection schemes.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in electrical commissioning within a power generation facility, focusing on electrical equipment testing and system startup.

A minimum of 10 years in electrical system design and grid-connected power systems.

Extensive experience in electrical or electric power construction, installation, operation, or maintenance within conventional or renewable power plants, as well as transmission or distribution systems in electric power utilities.

Familiarity with electrical codes and standards applicable to large-scale energy systems globally (e.g., IEC, UL, NEC, BDEW, CEI, NESC).

Experience in power studies, including coordination, short circuit, load-flow, and arc flash analysis using modeling software such as EasyPower or SKM.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly.

Understanding of electric grid operations and electrical control systems.
