Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant - Physician Services

Schedule Notes:

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, No Weekends, No Holidays, No On-Call, No floating

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner and offers clerical office assistance.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Prepares exam rooms, treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.
  2. Prepares patients for physician visits and examinations, assisting as directed.
  3. Takes patient vital signs and records in the medical chart.
  4. Understands proper function and care of special equipment.
  5. Performs EKG, PFT, Audiometry, and Titmus Test as indicated after a performance evaluation checklist completion.
  6. Also performs UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab testing as indicated after performance evaluation checklist completion.
  7. Maintains records by completing patient records as directed; files records and reports.
  8. Assists with collections/billing procedures as needed.
  9. Uses computer software to maintain office systems.
  10. Identifies and responds to issues of confidentiality.
  11. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs.
  12. Communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level.
  13. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  14. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  15. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with varying populations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures.
Required Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent such as a GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • CMA-NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
  • CMA-NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
  • CMA-AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
  • RMA-AMT (American Medical Technologists)
  • RMA-NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
  • AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)
