About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Security Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Strategic Solutions Protected Communication Systems department, you will play a critical role in designing, integrating, and optimizing protected communications systems to meet mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cybersecurity Expertise: Support protected communications cybersecurity tasking, including the application of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for NC3 systems.
  • System Trade Studies: Participate in system trade studies and research and development projects to ensure the development of secure and effective communication systems.
  • Software Assurance: Work with embedded software teams to apply and validate Software Assurance (SwA) to ensure the security and integrity of our systems.
  • Cybersecurity Integration: Support the integration and test teams with cybersecurity integration and test documentation and test events to ensure seamless system operation.
  • Collaboration with NSA: Work with the National Security Agency (NSA) on Type 1 cryptography certifications to ensure the highest level of security for our systems.
Requirements
  • Education: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations, and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience, or in the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience: Experience including at least two of the following: embedded SW design or electrical engineering or systems engineering design experience.
  • RMF Experience: Experience with applying RMF to embedded systems.
  • Security Clearance: Active DOD Secret (or higher) Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: Advanced degree in a STEM field, preferably with ABET accreditation.
  • Operating System Experience: Experience with Windows, Unix, and/or Linux, or embedded operating systems.
  • Communications Systems Experience: Experience with communications systems or cryptography.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to facilitate and coordinate activities across multiple facilities and locations.
  • Results-Oriented: Results-oriented work ethic and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines.
  • Capture Effort Coordination: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
