Surgical Technologist

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team.
Job Summary:The Surgical Technologist will assist the surgical team in the operating room, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients undergoing surgery. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare the operating room for each surgical procedure, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Assist the surgical team in setting up and maintaining surgical equipment, including autoclaves, ESUs, and other specialized devices.
- Ensure the operating room is supplied with the necessary instruments, sutures, and supplies for each procedure.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of instruments processed in Central Sterile Processing.
- Monitor equipment function and report any malfunctions to management.
- Assist with surgical set-up, including connecting suction, electrical cords, and other equipment.
- Maintain a sterile instrument table and/or mayo tray, following aseptic technique for opening and setting up sterile supplies.
- Perform scrub role for surgical procedures, establishing and maintaining a sterile field and monitoring aseptic techniques.
- Document sponge, instrument, and sharps counts, and notify RN or Head Nurse of any discrepancies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of OR Technician experience preferred.
The salary range for this position is $38.19-$49.52/hour. Northwell Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan and paid time off.
