Job Title: Travel CT Technologist

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled Travel CT Technologist to join our team for a travel assignment in Bricktown, New Jersey.

Job Summary:

The Travel CT Technologist will be responsible for performing computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex CT procedures
  • Review and obtain patient clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented and scanned into PACS
  • Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients and/or family members and scan into EPIC
  • Identify and/or administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by licensed practitioners
  • Review patient prescriptions to verify appropriateness of exams and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians to obtain additional clinical information or new prescriptions
  • Responsible for calling physicians to clarify prescriptions in accordance with CT protocols
  • Verify insurance authorized exam scripts and send exam modification forms to Finance for insurance for obtaining outside studies (CD) and scheduling them in EPIC
  • Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians and/or family members
  • Evaluate radiographs using PACS System to ensure radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value
  • Use consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety
  • Collect information determined by patient needs or conditions
  • Determine whether patients have been appropriately prepared for procedures
  • Prep patients for scanning (shielding, immobilization devices)
  • Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions at any appropriate time and at a level patients can understand
  • Address and document patient questions and concerns regarding procedures when venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines
  • Monitor patients' physical conditions for any adverse reactions during procedures
  • Responsible for scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care
  • On-call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy
  • Adhere to Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day
  • Identify needs of patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs (age, culture, language, hearing, and/or visually impaired, etc.)
  • This process includes communicating with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
  • Adhere to Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body
  • Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware
  • Thorough knowledge of PACS system
  • Maintain CEU Credits
  • Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months following hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months of hire
Preferred Requirements:
  • Six months CT experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS system added by the hospital
