This role is pivotal in the development and implementation of engaging activities tailored for children under the guidance of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
Key Responsibilities:- Organizes and leads diverse group activities aimed at fostering teamwork, enhancing self-esteem, and promoting problem-solving skills through various recreational interests, including sports, arts and crafts, and outdoor adventures.
- Reports to the Allied Therapies Manager or, in their absence, to the Unit Manager, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Utilizes strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with children, parents, and multidisciplinary staff within a therapeutic environment.
- Maintains a good level of physical fitness and possesses a broad understanding of expressive arts, recreational games, sports, and outdoor activities.
Education and Experience:
A background in recreation or mental health is highly desirable, either through direct experience or formal education.
Candidates must secure shallow water lifeguard certification and complete Youth Mental Health First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during the initial employment period.
