Position Overview
Responsible for the effective arrangement of materials and apparatus necessary for anesthesia procedures. Engages in a variety of responsibilities including upkeep, sanitation, and preparation of anesthesia resources, along with other routine tasks under the guidance of anesthesia specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handles diverse tasks related to the setup, maintenance, sanitation, procurement, and preparation of anesthesia materials and apparatus in line with established protocols and standards.
    •Ensures cleanliness, orders, and stocks necessary equipment/supplies. Conducts daily organization and sanitation of anesthesia carts, storage cabinets, and various specialized carts as assigned.
    •Cleans anesthesia devices post-use, replenishing utilized supplies and preparing the operating area for subsequent procedures.
    •Configures blood warming devices. Conducts daily equipment checks and verifies circuits when new setups are introduced. Performs negative pressure assessments as required.
    •Tracks inventory levels of anesthesia materials and equipment, alerting supply management of low stock situations as well as relevant anesthesia personnel.
    •Verifies expiration dates on supplies and all storage areas and equipment.
    •Monitors and replaces oxygen tanks as necessary.
    •Removes and restocks unused materials and equipment after procedures. Organizes carts, machines, and storage areas at the end of the workday.
    •Oversees and replaces oxygen, air, and nitrous oxide tanks.
    •Facilitates the transport of materials and equipment.
    •Maintains a specified inventory of I-Stat cartridges.
  • Engages and communicates with healthcare team members, patients, and visitors in a courteous and responsive manner, adhering to iRESPECT standards and fostering patient and customer satisfaction. Collaborates effectively with staff to coordinate and implement activities.
  • Upholds confidentiality of patient, department, and organizational information. Complies with established department and organizational policies regarding the processing and dissemination of patient information (i.e., HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance Policies).
  • Maintains necessary departmental records, reports, and files for administrative and compliance purposes.
  • Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, compliance, and quality improvement, with attention to risk management, infection control, and patient safety practices.
  • Completes required ongoing training and education, including department-specific requirements. Responds to challenges and opportunities to enhance the work environment and participates in unit-based performance improvement initiatives, including committees, monitoring, and follow-up.
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and utilizes resources in a cost-effective manner. Reports equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Provides support to nursing and medical personnel and offers technical assistance as needed. Aids in the orientation of new staff members and students during their patient care training.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an Anesthesia Department or prior experience/training in a related field involving patient care, electronic monitoring, inventory management, or equipment maintenance is required.
