Job Summary

The Senior Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest level of sterility and quality in the preparation and processing of surgical instruments and equipment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sterile processing, with experience in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. They will also possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

This is a per-diem position, working on an as-needed basis to support the needs of the surgical department.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and assemble surgical instrumentation using an automated Instrument Tracking System.
  • Select appropriate method of sterilization, verify parameters, and document sterility accurately and appropriately.
  • Par and replenish materials, and receive and distribute sterile processing supplies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operation of the surgical department.

Requirements

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of formal Central Services Technician or Sterile Processing Technician course or successfully challenged Course test.
  • National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or National Certified Instrument Specialist - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association.
  • 5 years Experience in sterile processing, central services, or surgical supply and equipment environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery center.
