Substance Use and Problem Gambling Counselor

POSITION OVERVIEW: The counselor will deliver specialized treatment and counseling services for adults facing challenges related to problem gambling and substance use within the outpatient treatment program. The services provided will be informed by the interdisciplinary treatment team and the clinical/program supervisor, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Deliver tailored, evidence-based counseling and treatment for individuals dealing with problem gambling, substance use disorders, and associated mental health issues.

- Conduct comprehensive client intakes, including psychosocial assessments, gambling and mental health evaluations, and develop personalized treatment plans.

- Collaborate with other clinicians to coordinate client care as necessary.

- Establish and maintain a professional therapeutic rapport, serving as a constructive role model.

- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions as required.

- Ensure client documentation is maintained in compliance with regulatory standards, including updating treatment plans, writing progress notes, and documenting psychosocial histories.

- Prepare necessary reports as mandated.

- Refer clients to external organizations for additional services as needed.

- Attend to unassigned clients upon request from the Director or designated personnel.

- Execute administrative duties as directed by the Director.

- Cover for colleagues during their absence.

- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time

SALARY RANGE: $71,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience
