Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Aide to join our team at St. Therese Academy. The successful candidate will provide support to our teachers, supervise students, and contribute to a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers with classroom preparations, including setting up materials and equipment.
  • Supervise students during lunch, snack, recess, and on the playgrounds.
  • Provide support with general housekeeping tasks, such as disinfecting high-traffic areas and sweeping.
  • Recognize student needs and provide solutions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
  • Comply with CA state and county codes and licensing regulations.
  • Follow classroom rules and procedures as determined by lead teachers and/or the director.
Requirements:
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand the stages of early childhood development and learning progressions.
  • Ability to solve problems and provide solutions.
  • Ability to cope with a stressful environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and duties based on the needs of children and teachers.
Physical Demands:

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Stand for extended periods in the classroom.
  • Sit occasionally for tasks such as developing lesson plans or grading.
  • Walk through the classroom and maneuver in tight spaces between desks.
  • Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending.
  • Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity.
  • Lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms.
