Job Description

The Early Learning Center Specialist is responsible for supporting the Early Learning Center with duties for the Child Development Department. This role requires a high level of organization and communication skills to ensure the smooth operation of the center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome on-site visitors and direct them to the appropriate staff or department.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the facility by screening visitors and monitoring the premises.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, including meeting rooms and office spaces.
  • Direct incoming phone calls and ensure that mail and faxes are sorted and routed correctly.
  • Provide accurate information to visitors and callers about the center's programs and services.
  • Take inventory and order supplies for the center.
  • Track physicals and immunizations for state/tuition-based families and follow up as necessary.
  • Support new family orientation and provide information about community resources and referrals.
  • Assist with the tracking and monitoring of operations requirements.
  • Support the Center Manager with tasks as needed.
  • Perform kitchen duties and visit classrooms as needed.
  • Update bulletin boards and other informational sources as needed.
  • Coordinate Family Committee Meetings.
  • File documentation in Children and Family Files as needed.
  • Work with assigned staff to plan and coordinate special events.
Requirements
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • 2 years of experience working as a direct service staff in a community-based organization.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • 6 months of experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or young elementary children.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
Education
  • High school graduate; some college or related training preferred.
  • 12 units of Early Childhood and ability to procure Associate Teacher permit within 18 months of hire.

  • Frequently walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talks or hears.
  • Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
